The History of Tobacco Use and Dangers

The use of tobacco is a global epidemic among young people and adults that poses heavy consequences to our physical and mental health and I want to create aware of it.The History of Tobacco Use and Dangers

As our parents once told us, “Cigarettes/Tobacco are bad for your health”, however, they don’t really tell us why or how they are bad, at least not a “in-depth” manner. I will be talking about the consequences of the use of tobacco and its history. Firstly, I will be talking about tobacco’s history.

The Tobacco plant originally came from North and South America, as crazy as it sounds, it’s associated with condiments we put in our foods like the potato and pepper. It goes back as far as 1 B. C. , when tobacco made an appearance, it was mainly used by American Indians, and was used in different practices such as religious and medicinal practices. Back then Tobacco was believed to be a cure for everything, two of tobacco’s main uses was to heal wounds and be used as a pain killer.
