A stroke is the fourth leading cause of deaths in hispanics right behind cancer, diabetes, etc. Hispanics are at higher risk to die from strokes because of high blood pressure, diabetes, overweight and smoking. A stroke is prevalent within the Latino population. A stroke is known as a “brain attack”, it is the blood flow of an area to the brain is reduced and can’t get the oxygen and nutrients it needs which can lead to dead brain cells. The comparison of the population at large is also affected from strokes for example the african americans are twice as likely but the reason for this top deadly illness is because people don’t have good enough habits and aren’t simply taking care their bodies. In hispanic families, value their families and they normally have the uncles, aunts, grandparents, etc. in the household. So normally they remind themselves that their family needs them and try not to worry too much about themselves. Which puts a big strain on the family and having to worry for ill. Latinos are more likely underpaid but they have to support big extended families. A big stressor is not being able to have enough money to pay to go to the doctors because medical bills are too expensive.Stroke Rates Among Latino Community
