Identify a population of interest and one healthcare activity that members of this population either should practice or are required to practice to maintain health

Activity

Identify a population of interest and one healthcare activity that members of this population either should practice or are required to practice to maintain health. For example, you might identify adults with insulin-dependent diabetes who must self-inject insulin on at least a daily basis.
Identify an educational intervention that you would provide to members of this population to teach them this healthcare activity.
Conduct a literature search to identify existing instruments that would be appropriate for use to evaluate effectiveness of your teaching in the situation you have described in A. and B. above.
Critique each instrument you have identified (or three of these instruments if you have identified a large number) for evidence of reliability, validity, appropriateness with your identified population, and feasibility of use in your setting.
Based on your critique, select one instrument you would use for evaluating teaching effectiveness. Justify your selection.

Activity

Create a 1 page handout that covers a healthcare topic you teach patients or one you where you have an interest. In the handout, include information and illustrations you feel the patient or family should know or see.

Then, in a short 1 paper, answer the following questions about your handout:

Describe the learners who will use your brochure. Determine if they have certain characteristics you need to consider when creating your handout.

Explain what learning styles will you address and describe them.

Analyze what cultural values you may meet with your brochure.

Identify the development stages of your learners. If you are focusing on a certain development stage, describe which one.

Justify how you will determine if the brochure is written at the appropriate level for patients to understand.
