Pain refers to an unpleasant emotional experience resulting from tissue damage in various parts of the body(Love-Jones, 2019). In this case, the patient’s back pain is chronic since the pain lasts for many years. Due to persistent pain, the client may experience difficulty making movements, reduced flexibility, stamina, and strength. The patient reveals inability to undertake her regular duties and commitments in her workplace due to the compressed L2 disc’s pain.

The client requires a thorough assessment of the disorder since this will help start an effective pain management plan. Still, assessment will require evaluating the nature of the pain and proper documentation according to the observed characteristics(Fillingim et al., 2016). Such assessment includes the quality of the pain in terms of burning and sharpness, severity in the scale of 1-10, onset, duration, and relieving factors. Similarly, this will significantly rely on the patient’s report about the chronic pain experience. Pain Disorder Nursing Essay
