What is more, Patient-centered care has been proved to be beneficial for the patient’s health.

What is more, Patient-centered care has been proved to be beneficial for the patient’s health.

What is more, Patient-centered care has been proved to be beneficial for the patient’s health. “Patient-centered care results in improved care processes and health outcomes, including survival. Two systematic reviews identified promising patient-centered interventions directed at patients, clinicians, or both, which resulted in improved communication and health outcomes.” (Greene et al., 2012) Moreover, Fix et al. (2018) state that “During the 20th century, PCC became a focus of healthcare systems with its promise to increase patient satisfaction and improve outcomes” and that the Patient-centered care has lead to the “improvements in a variety of health conditions, increased adherence, decreased healthcare utilization, better ratings of care and improved quality of care.”

Besides the benefits for the patients and their health, Patient-centered nursing as the significant value for the nurses, and the outside world. It has been mentioned that with the patient’s involvement in the process of the treatment, the nurses can better understand the patients’ view on the problem to provide the needed care. In the research, Constand et al. (2014), have identified that “in a population of patients receiving physiotherapy for the treatment of chronic low back pain, the provision of patient-centered care helped the physiotherapists to “better understand and manage” their patient’s needs.” What is more, they have “identified that an improved understanding of patient needs stems from clinicians acknowledging patient perspectives on recovery.” (Constand et al., 2014) Greene et al. (2012) share the similar opinion that the Patient-centered care is important for all of the parties involved and state that “clinicians and their teams may benefit from a patient-centered orientation by knowing that they have more effectively addressed the needs of their patients.” With the Patient-centered care, the benefit can also be seen from the legal side. As Greene and colleagues (2012) mention in the research, “There is a business case for patient-centered care, on the basis of evidence that patients who report stronger relationships with their clinicians undergo fewer tests and are less inclined to pursue legal action if a medical error is handled in a sensitive, patient-centered fashion.”Patient-Centered Nursing Framework Essay

While the practice concepts have been introduced, it is also worth to mention that Patient-centered care is an efficient theoretical framework. Despite being a relatively new framework, this model has the potential to take over other frameworks, such as paternalism, and others. Van der Cingel et al. (2016) argue that “Besides being a framework that offers building blocks for the realization of good care, the framework is interwoven with a strategy known as transformational practice development and research methodologies that originate from the action research paradigm (McCormack and McCance, 2016). The framework, therefore, is particularly suitable for empirical studies that aim to develop practical knowledge on the realization of person-centered care.” It is crucial that the practice has a theoretical background, due to the nursing being a profession that is directly connected to the patient. Thus, the care that is Patient-centered has to let the nurses learn to choose the beat approach to provide the quality care.
