This essay, will discuss the position statement on the role of an Assistant in nursing (AIN) in today’s health-care systems. It will also elaborate on how a Registered nurse (RN together with an Assistant in nursing ensure safe practices and improve patient outcome. The responsibilities of RN when working with AINs will be discussed. This paper will support the position statement of utilization of Assistant in nursing as delegated and directed by an Registered nurse in providing appropriate, safe, and resource efficient method of nursing care using systematic reviews and evidence based literature. These position statements will briefly discus how AINs assist RNs to achieve competencies in relation to NMBA competency tool.
