Nursing

The event this is based on is during cpr on a 71 year old resident. At that time we were a shift of newly graduated nurse (2 in total) and there wasn’t a veteran nurse which could help at that time. We felt that we were to green to be left alone even if the resident survived at the end of the day. In the reflection, the client would like to add on how management should have mixed the shifts with new and old staff;not leaving a shift with only newly graduates. Please use this information to build a reflective journal using Gibbs theory.

You will record reflective journal entry . This will include a detailed assessment of a critical incident, event or action that has occurred during your practice and a critical analysis of what happened, why you think it happened, what action you took and why. This will include a discussion of what was good or needed improvement. This assessment will include:

Reference to and incorporation of leadership and management theory/models to discuss, analyse or critique the event, actions and outcomes Employ a clear reflective framework e.g. Gibbs, Kolb

You will need to ensure that the reflection is evidenced well with the literature pertaining to leadership and management in health and social care. You will need to ensure that every section within each stage of the reflective process is supported with the relevant literature.

You will be required to submit 1 reflective piece through the electronic marking system. The total word count for all of your reflections will be no more than 1000 words

· Use Gibbs theory for the reflective

· I work in a geriatric home.

· The reflective have to be about an incident that happened during a cpr on a resident. During the event there was no clear leader since all the shift was newly graduated 2 months earlier and there was no veteran nurse at that particular time at the home. Even if the resident was resuscitated at the end precious seconds were lost. –
