Aucoin, J.W., and Treas, L. (2019). Assumptions and realities of the NCLEX-RN.
Nursing Education Perspectives, 26(5), 268-271.
Doi:https://www.article/NEP/Aucoin.2019/Treas.2019.html
The authors detailed how the NCLEX-RN has assumptions of correctness in the questions as
they are written. The assumptions are stating each question is universal and every nursing
student should have been exposed to the questions in their training – no matter what state they
live in or what type of nursing school they attended. They further propose that a national
committee be formed to insure future questions meet the rigors of current nursing practice to
include alternative healthcare and computer technology.Nursing Education Perspectives

Taxonomy of educational objectives, the classification of educational goals
handbook I: Cognitive domain (12th ed.). Green Longmans Publisher.
The authors detail how adult learners gather information, the levels of knowing, and how each of
the proposed levels help to better the classroom environment. The author has proposed a
hierarchy of learning with knowledge classified as the lowest level and evaluation being the
highest level using critical thinking and assimilation of the previous levels. The classroom
instructor understanding this will be able to match the lesson plans with the level of the adult
learners being taught.Nursing Education Perspectives
