The emergence of electronic health records (EHRs) has opened new opportunities for the development of effective health care services and consistently better information processing compared to the use of conventional paper health records. The introduction of electronic health records aimed at the improvement of the information processing and quality of health care services. In response, the HIPAA and other regulations were introduced to enhance the protection of the private information of patients and secure new information technologies used in the field of health care, including EHRs.
