Nurses use EBPs to improve patient outcomes. Evaluating data is an important activity to ensure that nurses are providing safe patient-centered care. This practice learning activity provides the opportunity to find and evaluate data, and determine whether EBPs were incorporated when delivering care.

Research your chosen organization in relation to the following topics: (Long Term Care, Health Care Acquired Infections related to Handwashing)

• Evaluate whether national databases were used for identifying and incorporating EBP in a recent experience.
• Identify which aspects of the care delivered, if any, were based on evidence and provide your rationale.
• Provide two examples where an EBP was incorporated into the nursing process in your chosen organization.
• Critique how the policies, procedures, and culture in your chosen organization could hinder or support the adoption of an EBP.
• Explain the barrier you selected from the article and how this barrier could be overcome within an organization.
