Identify an area of pathophysiology that you would like to develop in depth. You can select a topic not covered in this course. Discuss your choice with and receive approval for topic Keep the topic choice narrow enough to discuss in depth in 10 – 15 pages (including title page and references).

CONTENT: Ground the topic in normal physiology.

In the general introduction, define the parameters of your topic and then cover all aspects of the topic as defined.  Present accurate information in a clear, concise, and organized manner.  Provide rationale for any conclusions stated.  Identify research that is underway or needed, as well as completed, published material.  Have a general conclusion that summarizes the paper.   REMEMBER THIS IS A FOCAL AREA OF PATHOPHYSIOLOGY, NOT THE ENTIRE SYSTEM.

REFERENCES: Must include primary sources of most current research available on the topic, no older than five years. May include some secondary sources, check with the course coordinator first. Cite sources appropriately, in text, in reference list, and in bibliography, according to APA format.

FORMAT: Using the current edition of APA Manual (purchased for this course) for formatting as well as correct grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure on all work turned in to the professor. The final paper must be typed in a Word compatible format submitted in the drop box.
