GRADING CRITERIA FOR Quantitative Research Report Analysis

Copy/paste all 19 items exactly as they are written into a Word document, rather than re-writing them, so as not to miss any sections of a question or terms may be missing that change the meaning of what is asked. Write your answers beneath each question that includes the section, paragraph, and page number in the article where you located your answers (i.e. Methods section, para, 3, p. 2). There are 19 items of which there are 18 questions. Item #19 pertains to the team’s presentation re: spelling, grammar, etc..that will be graded. As with all scholarly papers, a cover page with page numbers is required (cover page is page 1) with the names of all team members who contributed and designate the letter of your team (e.g. A, B, C).
The purpose of this assignment is to identify specific parts of the research process and some answers may require only a short sentence, such as in the example below:
What was the purpose of the study? The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of lunar phases on motor vehicle accidents among teenagers (Methods section, paragraph 1, p.1).
What were the independent and dependent variables? The independent variable was lunar phases and the dependent variable was motor vehicle accidents (section, paragraph, page number).
Quoting what the authors said in a research report is acceptable, but be sure to use quotation marks and page number to avoid plagiarism.
As you look for the answers to the questions asked about your research study, and the author/s did not provide the information, then state that it was not provided in the report. Do not make-up something that is not there, but look carefully, before making the decision that the information is missing.
Note: When analyzing a research report, the abstract should not be used, since details contained within the report are not represented in an abstract.
