Which aspects of the comprehensive health history and physical exam are you most comfortable with and which will require more practice? 10. Observation

a. How do you see Parson’s sick role theory impacting a person’s health and illness behavior? When you are taking care of a patient that “appears” to not want to get better or will not take the necessary steps towards a healthier lifestyle, such as a COPD patient that continues to smoke, for example, how do you as a nurse deal with this conflict? What type of care will you give this patient? You can use any example. It does not have to be the COPD example.
b. In Dr. Pape’s video on Systems Theories, she discusses the fact that systems theories are a good way to approach the care of an individual or group in a complete or holistic way. In addition, this allows health care disciplines or multidisciplines to work together for the good of the individual/group creating coherence among the disciplines. Give an example of a situation in which systems theories has influenced a multidisciplinary approach in the area where you work?
