A literature review is not just a descriptive list of the material available, or a set of summaries Assignment Description: For this assignment you are asked to complete the steps review. The review should be between 10 and 15 pages, doubled-spaced and using APA format. Criteria/outline for the literature review 1. Abstract: Summarize your literature review in no more than 250 words. The abstract should provide an accurate and concise description of the literature review. It should include the following sections: background/introduction, purpose, methodology, results (main findings), conclusion and implications for nursing practice. Please provide at least 3 key words used for your search (these key words are not part of the 250 word limit). 2. Topic selection and Background/Introduction: Write an introduction/background section for your review. This section should include: (a) description of the topic and rational for the selection of this topic, (b) relevance of the topic for Nursing, (c) background information that provides an explanation of the gap in the literature and leads to a clear purpose statement and research question. 3. Question/purpose statement: Write a guiding question(s) and/or purpose statement that is clearly stated. 4. Methods: Explain the methodology used in the review of literature including: (a) search databases, (b) search terms (years, language, databases, number of articles found, keywords, number of selected articles), (c) inclusion/exclusion criteria for the articles, (d) number of articles found and number of articles and types of articles found and selected 5. Results: Identify and compare, contrast and/or connect the findings of the articles you have selected. Focus is on research findings rather than research methods. Study limitations that might have led to different findings are discussed. Gaps and controversies that exist in the literature are clearly discussed. 6. Appropriate selection of the articles: The selected articles are from at least 10 scientific articles related to the topic.
