It may be good (eustress), or a vast majority of the time, bad (distress). Cognitive factors are characteristics of an individual determining his/her ability to process and learn information. Examples include memory, reasoning, knowledge, and comprehension.

Current Status of Cognitive Psychology
Cognitive Psychology is part of broader field known as Cognitive Science. (Gardner 1985). Cognitive Science is an inter disciplinary subject which includes its scope field of Psychology, Philosophy, Linguistic, Anthropology, Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience.

The six types of cognitive processes that I will describe are attention, perception, memory, language, learning, and higher reasoning. The processes are interdependent and occur simultaneously. They play a role in experiential and reflective modes of cognition.

Ulric (Dick) Neisser was the “father of cognitive psychology” and an advocate for ecological approaches to cognitive research. Neisser was a brilliant synthesizer of diverse thoughts and findings. He was an elegant, clear, and persuasive writer.
