Evaluate critical elements necessary in the selection, use, analysis, and evaluation of healthcare information systems and patient care technology.
Critique emerging patterns and trends in electronic information processing and the ethical/legal issues that arise from technology.
Many patients bring information found on the Internet about their disease to their PCP. Discuss the use of technology in the delivery of healthcare services to patient populations. Include the following in your discussion. Consider these questions as you compose your paper:

What is telemedicine?
Discussion how and when telemedicine technology can be used to provide patient care.
What might be barriers to telemedicine adoption?

Many patients bring information found on the Internet about their disease to their PCP.
Select a condition/chronic disease in your preferred patient population and identify three web sites that would be useful to your patients.
Why would you recommend these websites to your patients?
How do you teach your patients what they should look for in a web site?
What are the criteria for a reputable healthcare website?
Discuss benefits of using a personal health record (PHR) and identify barriers to the PHR adoption.
Identify required safety and security provisions (ethical, legal, and regulatory) for a PHR.

Assignments turned in later than the due date without previous approval or notification from the faculty will receive a 10 percent deduction for every day the assignment is late.
