THEORY PAPER GUIDELINES
Objective: Using a nursing theoretical framework and epidemiological data, design a plan of care for a childrearing family or community.
1- Identify a family or community in your clinical practice setting which is NICU ( neonatal )– e.g., single parent family, draw 3-generational family, low income- African American community, etc (5%)
2- Describe the family or community selected. E.g, family composition, ages, roles/function of the selected family members or community demographics, epidemiologic data (15%)
3- Identify the health problems/needs of the selected family or community (20%)
4- Select and describe a nursing theory applicable for your chosen family or community – Orem, Watson, Leininger, Roy, etc., offer a rationale for your selection (20%)
5- Design a plan of care for the family or community selected incorporating the chosen theoretical model (30%)
6- Grammar, spelling, proper use of APA format for citations and references – 10%
