RESEARCH CRITIQUE – PART 1 INSTRUCTIONS This assignment is reflective of the role a BSN nurse plays in nursing research. You will chose a peer-reviewed research article (quantitative or qualitative, that has been published within the last 5 years) to review and evaluate. You will critique your approved research article with the following elements of the critique worksheet (Table 14-1, page 416 of Introduction to Nursing Research: Incorporating Evidence-Based Practice): • Title of the study • Author credentials • Purpose of the study • Timeliness of literature used • Each of the variables in the literature review • Theory/framework, concepts, and the relationship to nursing • Research question or hypothesis • Dependent and independent variables listed • Definitions given You must support your assertions with 2–3 peer-reviewed resources (published within the last 5 years) in addition to the article being critiqued. It is not acceptable to use the course’s textbook to meet this requirement. This assignment must be 750–1,000 words (3–5 pages), conform to current APA format, and include both a reference page and a title page. Review the grading rubric prior to completing this assignment.
