Question Description
Case Study: Ethical Management ‒ Transference and Countertransference
A common experience with ethical challenge in human services involves a client unconsciously projecting a parental or other authority-figure role onto the service provider or, in the case of an employee, the supervisor. This is transference, and it is not at all uncommon.

In the Becoming an Ethical Helping Professional text (pages 165–166), review the case study involving the experience of “Lin, a 40-something counselor” with a young, athletic woman named Ginny. Discuss the case implications for Lin and the implications for Ginny. What would you do in Lin’s position? Then, reverse the positions and describe what you would do as Ginny.
