Cellulitis is a very common and serious bacterial skin infection. In most cases, the infection appears as a swollen area which is red on the skin and which feels tender and hot. It starts as a small area which becomes red and has pain on the skin and can be a result of many factors or conditions or an injury of the tissue. The source of injury can either be exogenous or endogenous. Some of the examples of exogenous injuries are surgery, trauma, burns and skin injury from chemicals.
