The sponsors I am considering for my project are the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The HHS is an organization within the government of the U.S. that cares for the well-being of every American and offers the essential health services, particularly to those who are unable to access the services on their own. The NIH, a part of the HHS, is the United States’ medical research organization responsible for biomedical and health-related research aimed at improving health and saving the lives of Americans. Because of the HHS and the NIH medical funded research projects, many Americans are currently living longer and healthier lives. Consequently, the life expectancy in the country has improved from forty-seven during the last decade to seventy-seven years today. The HHS budget includes more than three hundred different programs and covers a broad range of activities. Some of these are health and social science research, preventing disease, including immunization services, and comprehensive health services for Native Americans.
