The Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act Memo

The Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act Memo

Subject: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA)- the areas that the legislation focuses upon, but for which details of implementation and the effects of implementation are not yet clearly defined.

As The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is aimed at ensuring the all American citizens have access to health care and highlights the need for enhancing quality and affordability of health care services, it is critical to consider the factors that may have a negative impact on its implementation. Specifically, we need to consider the areas that the legislation focuses upon, but for which details of implementation and the effects of implementation are not yet clearly defined. These two areas include expansion of the Medicaid Program and provision of support for developing innovative medical care delivery methods aimed at reduction of health care costs. Two stakeholder groups who will be impacted by these aspects of the legislation include providers and patients. The Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act Memo

We should be focused on transformation within the health care system in order to achieve success in the above mentioned areas of the legislation. Currently, there are many governmental officials who are opposed to the ACA implementation and refused to promote expansion of the Medicaid Program. According to statistical data, “in the states that have not yet expanded their programs, nearly 5 million uninsured people with low incomes are expected to be left out of the new coverage options this year” (Blumenthal & Collins, 2014, p. 275). It leads to failures in ensuring accessibility and affordability of health care services.
