The US healthcare reform conducted under the Presidency of Barak Obama and basically introduced with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) raised quite controversial responses in the US public from the severe criticism to the admiration. However, as the time has passed, true effects of the ACA are obvious and they refer to the main goal of the ACA and the main issue that is still relevant to all Americans which is high costs of health care services. High costs of healthcare for Americans are still the major issue, although the ACA intended to make healthcare more affordable to all Americans and restrain the steep growth of health care costs that have become particularly high since 2000.Current Development in the US Healthcare

Cathy Schoen in her article The Affordable Care Act and the U.S. Economy: A Five-Year Perspective (2016) conducts the economic analysis of the impact of the ACA on the US economy since the time of the implementation of the act. The author of the article reveals the fact that the criticism of the ACA was partially right but the overall effect of the ACA on the US healthcare and economy was still rather positive than negative. The researcher conducted the in-depth study of economic effects and identified positive trends in the creation of new jobs after the introduction of the ACA. However, the author concludes that the major positive effect of the ACA on the US economy is the slowdown of the growth of health care costs. The slowdown of the growth of health care costs because growing health care costs became the major challenge for the US economy. Americans had to spent more on health care than they could afford and the slowdown of the growth of health care costs helped Americans to make health care services really affordable to them just as the ACA intended healthcare to be.Current Development in the US Healthcare
