Benefits of Nursing Profession Essay

The paper “Benefits of Nursing Profession” is an exceptional example of an admission essay on nursing.
Nursing profession gives golden opportunity to explore and unfold the art and craft of human health. I have grown up with my grandmother after my mother pass. From my grandmother, I learnt the importance of herbal medicine to treat various disorders. I took the time to memorize the vegetation by their appearance. This background unknowingly impacted my life, though I at that time I did not have any idea of the healthcare field. I have work in healthcare for about seven years; first as a certified nursing assistant and then a personal care assistant. Both jobs are quite challenging and the job demands someone who is patient and willing to learn to do them. As a PCA, I administer medication, do paperwork, and still assist with daily care needs.Benefits of Nursing Profession Essay
I believe, nurses are continuously physically and mentally challenged. They should able to handle every tough situation with focus, strength, stamina and heightened alertness. I care about other people and I want to help make them better. For those who are dying, I want to help manage their pain and eased their burdens so that they can go home. I want to get satisfaction by positively influencing the lives of thousands of people with the skillful use of mind and body. I would be privileged to thrive at a professional level in an intellectually stimulating environment of the nursing profession.

I work in the evening and the overnight shift in a transitional home. Most of the people that we care for are either abused by family members or have no relative to oversee their care. So the care ranges for light to full skilled care. One day, I was doing a night shift for my colleague.Benefits of Nursing Profession Essay The night was quiet until three call bell rang. I walked up to the third floor to find one moaning lady on the floor. I assessed the resident to ensure that her injury was not life-threatening. She stated that she had felt out of bed and hit her head on the dresser. Given her current history of heart failure and the symptoms she has been experiencing for the past two days I immediately felt the seriousness of the situation. I made no attempt to move her, instead, I went to the first floor and tried to contact the PCP. When that failed I call the EMT and, then the director of the building. I went back to stay with the resident until help arrived. I felt that she was having a heart attack and it was later confirmed by the doctor who saw her when she entered the emergency room. I was proud of my quick thinking and actions that night. I always prayed major incident as the one told above does not happen during my shift; especially when I work overnight alone with forty-five other resident to care for. That night I help save a life and that is more rewarding. Since then this “high touch” career attracted me and I decided that I want to be a nurse. My exposure to this incidence provided me with a sense of fulfillment, a motivation to gain more knowledge in the nursing profession, and most significantly determination what I want to do for the rest of my life. As a nurse, I can fulfill, preserve and cherish the desire to contribute positively towards society and nurture the smile of sick and needy people.Benefits of Nursing Profession Essay
