Use nursing practice in primary care settings.

This unit will prepare students to work in a primary healthcare setting, including community-based, educational, occupational, and informal settings, as well as a general practice. A person-centered and comprehensive approach to health care is required for primary health care. It is made accessible to people by being close to their homes and encouraging full participation.

This unit applies to enrolled nursing work performed in consultation and collaboration with registered nurses and under supervisory arrangements aligned with the regulatory authority legislative requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

This unit’s skills must be applied to federal, state, and territory legislation, Australian Standards, and industry codes of practice.
