This course was not part of my program requirement but;I wanted to learn about international agencies in health since I am a health studies student. I was interested in knowing what these agencies are doing to improve health in developing countries. From this course I hope to learn different policies to improve public health by providing technical expertise and learning new methods. Countries like Canada and the United States have much better healthcare systems compared with any developing countries. I feel that those countries are much more in need of help. There are many major international health issues, which we can talk about including cancer, HIV, reproductive health, mental health, maternal mortality etc. In this paper I will talk about maternal mortality.Maternal Mortality Reflective Paper Example

Being a woman I think maternal mortality is a major issue, which needs to be addressed by international agencies. Everyday we hear that one out of ten women die while giving birth its everywhere doesn’t matter in which country we are living in women’s life is important and saving child is important too. Maternal mortality is a key pointer for maternal health. It uncovers emotional imbalances between and inside of nations that can’t be ascribed to biological differences. Decreasing maternal mortality depends on preventing unplanned pregnancies through family planning and contraceptive health. Talented participation during childbirth and emergency referrals are additionally required to diminish both maternal intricacies and results. The characteristics of individual women, such as age, education level, and number of past pregnancies play a vital part in determining if they will receive suitable services. However the hidden components affecting health conduct work at inter-related levels of social impact: family and companionship, the group in which women live the health services accessible to them, more extensive social standards, the legal and policy environment and larger governance structures. For example in Ghana, where abortion is legal in specific situations, many women still have illegal, unsafe abortions since they don’t know the circumstances in which abortion is legal or they are avoided receiving an abortion because of other social constraints. The vast decline in maternal mortality levels across the developed world has generally occurred because of the expanded access to professional trained in maternity care along with universal access to care. The significance of accessible, professional care is consequently fundamental while talking about maternal mortality. Regardless, there are different explanations for the low participation of women in centers and doctor’s facilities than simply the physical limitations of getting in. The role women are given in society is of noteworthy significance to gender inequalities.Maternal Mortality Reflective Paper Example

Women play a large part in the organization and production of the household, yet their contribution in pursued work outside the family is restricted. This division of work is dangerous as it gives the man full control over all income generating work and consequently additionally over the household assets. Women therefore become dependent on men in accessing resources, even such simple decisions as purchasing household items will be made by the man.Women’s roles as the housewife and organiser of the household in combination with the reproductive role pose further problems to women’s health. Because pregnancy is seen as their ‘normal’ state, not as a condition requiring care, as it is not an illness, women are discouraged from seeking professional care as they, and the community, believe that they do not need it.
